Photokemi Star Tools
Convert to 16bit: Quick convert your 32bit document to 16bit document Autostretch1(RGB): This action will stretch your raw stacked document to reveal details in the image. Action is provided with notification message for adjusting Levels. Autostretch2(RGB): This action will stretch your raw stacked document to reveal details in the image. The method used in this action is slightly different than the Autostretch1(RGB). With minor star reduction to reveal more nebula. Autostretch Narrowband: This action will give a better stretch to narrowband images than the RGB stretch actions. Equalize Crop: Stretches the image so potential stacking artifacts are visible and can be cropped out if wanted. Levels Stretch: Basic stretching using Photoshop 'levels'. Multiple stretching stages for 'black point', 'grey point' and 'white point' adjustments. Action is provided with notification messages for each stretch to easy remember which slider you have to adjust. Level Stretch luminosity mask: Automated soft stretch on the background with preservation of the bright highlights, like star cores. Star Select: Select the stars in the image, even the faint ones. Star Select Smoothed Edges: "Star Select" with smoothed/feathered edges. Big Star Select: Selection of the bigger stars in the image. Big Star Select Smoothed Edges: "Big Star Select" with smoothed/feathered edges. Reduce background noise: Reduces background noise with use of an inverted star mask. Reduce background color noise: Reduces background color noise with use of an inverted star mask. Sharpen stars: Sharpen the stars by applying the 'high pass' filter and star mask. Sharpen background and nebula: Sharpen the background with the use of an inverted star mask. Star Reduction Special: A more delicate and precise method to reduce the size of stars. Possibility that the most faintest stars are removed. Enhance Star Color: Increases Star saturation with the use of a star mask. Screen Mask Invert: Automated screen mask invert command to bring out faint dust in the background. Action is provided with a notification message for adjusting the 'black point'. Nebula Filter: Enhance the nebula in your image by applying this filter. Action is provided with several notification messages for adjusting the 'black point' and 'levels'. Nebula Filter Strong: Nebula Filter with a heavier reduction in stars and softer background. Space Dust 1/2: Quick nebula enhancer. Gentle nebula highlighter and softener. Space Contrast: Enhance contrast in the image. Core Blend: Did you take different exposures of the Orion nebula or the Andromeda galaxy but don't know how to blend them together? This action takes you through a simple process to easy blend two images of different exposures. Simply follow the pop-up messages on screen and the action will take care of it. Color Boost: Enhance the overall saturation and color in the image, low, medium, high. Color Correction: Color adjustment on the overall image. The action can result in an image with less vibrant colors, use the "Color Boost low" action to correct for this loss. Color Correction extra: Color adjustment and histogram correction. Apart from adjusting the colors this action will also adjust the exposure. Reduce Star Bloating: Reduce halos around stars sometimes caused by the optics or image stretching. Depending on the type of image and aggressiveness required, 3 separate actions are available. Color Boost with color correction: Enhance the overall saturation in the image with a color correction. Dark Detail soft/medium/hard: Detail enhancer at different levels. Photokemi's Star Tools V3.1.3 - (02/14/20)

Many astrophotographers use mono cameras to capture more details. This set is made for these particular type of images and is an add-on to the Original Photokemi Startool set. In the original set several actions won't work due to the differences in Photoshop's color mode algorithms. This set has all the unavailable actions for mono images from the Original set but updated for Grayscale files. The efficiency has been updated so they run smoother and faster as well as improvements in several actions. Autostretch Mono: Autostretch for mono images. Level Stretch luminosity mask: Automated soft stretch on the background with preservation of the bright highlights, like star cores. Star Select: Star selection for mono images Star Select Smoothed Edges: "Star Select" with smoothed/feathered edges. Big Star Select: Selection of the bigger stars in the image. Big Star Select Smoothed Edges: "Big Star Select" with smoothed/feathered edges. Reduce background noise: Reduces background noise in mono images. Star reduction 1-3: 3 new star reduction techniques made for mono images. Reduce Star Bloating: Reduce halos around stars sometimes caused by the optics or image stretching. Dark Detail soft/medium/hard: Detail enhancer at different levels. Nebula Filter: Enhance the nebula in your mono images with the this filter. Space Dust 1/2: Quick nebula enhancer. Photokemi Star Tools Extras
This set was initially created for heavy star reduction actions but has been updated overtime with new actions which can come in handy for astrophotography. Within time this set will most likely be updated as existing actions will be refined and new star reduction action will be added. Autostretch2(RGB) extra: This action will stretch your raw stacked document to reveal details in the image. With extra adjustment layers for individual control for brightness and saturation.
Reduce background stars 1/2: Reduction of medium and small stars in your image. Reduce size of Big Stars: Star reduction of only the big stars. Will leave small stars untouched. Star Reduction Special: A more delicate and precise method to reduce the size of stars. Possibility that the most faintest stars are removed. Star Shrink 25%-50%-75%: Shrink/reduce star size at different amounts/opacity. STAR reduction extra 1-4: 4 different techniques of heavy star reduction. These aren't arranged in any particular order. Depending on the type of image a certain action can work better than another. Can also be used as a star removal tool (works very well on narrowband images) when combining with other actions or when applied several times on the image. Check out the video page for some examples. STAR reduction ALL: Automated action that will apply all 'STAR reduction extra' actions (1-4). Each action will have its own named layer. This way you can choose or delete the one that works best on your image without running each action separately. Star select for star reduction extra: Star selection techniques which are solely used for the 'STAR reduction extra' actions but can be also be used separately. Reduce Blue-Magenta Chromatic aberrations: Reduce/removes blue or magenta halos around stars. Reduce Green Hue: Somtimes a stacked DSS image can come out with a green hue, these actions will remove the green tint. Star Spikes: Creates a diffraction pattern around stars. This is something new I'm experimenting with and isn't in its final stage. Future tweaks will follow in newer versions. Older now updated actions are also added to this set if you wish to experiment with them
Reduce background noise(old): This applies a heavier noise reduction. Reduces background noise with use of an inverted star mask + extra noise reduction using the surface blur filter. Bare in mind that this filter can remove faint stars but can also reduce detail in nebulae.
Enhance Star Color(old): Increases Star saturation with the use of a star mask. Nebula Filter Strong(old): Enhance the nebula in your image by applying this filter. Photokemi's Star Tools extras V3.2 - (02/14/20)
